Clinical Associate Professor and Academic Director
Dr. LeAnne Martinelli is Clinical Associate Professor and Academic Director in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies on the Atlanta campus. She joined the Mercer PA Program faculty in August 2018. She earned her Doctor of Health Science from Nova Southeastern University, Master of Medical Science from Emory University, and BS in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the faculty at Mercer University, she was Assistant Professor in the Physician Assistant Program at Emory University School of Medicine for 10 years. She has 17 years of clinical experience as a physician assistant working in a variety of clinical settings including family medicine, internal medicine, hematology/oncology, and emergency medicine. Dr. Martinelli's research interests include pedagogy, the opioid epidemic, pain management, and pediatric anxiety.
She is an active member of the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants (GAPA), American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), and the Physician Assistant Education Association. She has served nationally on the AAPA Houses of Delegates since 2016, currently serves as Secretary for GAPA, and has served as a site visitor the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant since 2021. Dr. Martinelli was a National Health Service Corp Scholar in 2002 and 2003, and received the Faculty Achievement Award from GAPA in 2012 and 2016.
