Mercer University offers the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree with two concentrations: Social Epidemiology and Diverse Populations and Health Equity. The seven-semester program is offered on the Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus in Atlanta, GA and online.
The Mercer DrPH program rigorously explores epidemiological and health equity concepts. The DrPH degree also emphasizes engaging communities to improve health outcomes to allow every person to attain full health potential without disadvantage due to social determinants of health. Students admitted to the DrPH – Social Epidemiology concentration will be prepared to lead efforts that consider social and structural determinants of health to demonstrate the effects of privilege, racism, and other injustices on the health of diverse populations. Students admitted to the DrPH – Diverse Populations and Health Equity concentration will be poised to lead organizations, and design, implement, and evaluate health programs envisioned to benefit disadvantaged and minority groups.
Graduates of Mercer’s DrPH program will be prepared for employment in public health professional leadership positions such as social epidemiologist, senior epidemiologist, research associate, program director, director of research and evaluation, professor, and senior technical advisor. Whether graduates choose to pursue a career in a nongovernmental organization, community-based organization, government agency, or established private sector business, they will be leaders who are confident in their public health expertise to make a difference.
