Cheryl GaddisWelcome to Mercer University’s Department of Public Health! This is an extremely important time in the field of Public Health as we have a significant role in developing an equitable health system. Our programs focus on transforming students into competent, passionate professionals ready to confront the complex and dynamic challenges of public health in communities and around the world.

The Mercer Department of Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) in programs offered in both Atlanta and Macon, Georgia. The Department of Public Health offers innovative programs that we believe will help achieve health equity and improve the quality of life for families and communities. We offer undergraduate (Bachelor of Science in Public Health) and graduate (Master of Public Health [MPH] and Doctor of Public Health [DrPH]) degrees, as well as combined degree programs with the MPH degree. The curriculum is designed to create public health professionals who are committed and passionate about reducing health disparities to bring about sustainable and positive changes in health. Emphasis on health equity among diverse populations is established across all tiers of the curriculum.

We have a diverse and dedicated faculty and staff who are excited about public health and our potential to impact the world positively as we pursue our mission through our educational programs, our academic research, and our service. Our students engage in practical experiences with notable public health organizations to apply the classroom knowledge and skills in navigating a complex and changing healthcare environment in the field. We provide our faculty, students, and partners access to cutting-edge research opportunities through our Center for Evaluation and Applied Research. Faculty and students continue to collaborate with local, state, and national public health organizations through service as members and leaders.
