Dr. Andrew Kelly is Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Clinical Psychology in the College of Health Professions at Mercer University.  He earned his PhD in Cognitive Aging from the Georgia Institute of Technology, MS in Experimental Psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and BA in Psychology from The Catholic University of America.

 

Prior to joining the faculty at Mercer, Dr. Kelly worked for over for 13 years at Georgia Gwinnett College and Georgia State University, where he also served as the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies. He has a wealth of teaching experience in research methods and statistics, as well as courses in the area of human cognition and learning. Dr. Kelly frequently conducts research into the scholarship of teaching and learning. Most recently, he has been examining student-based outcomes associated with course-based research experiences for students in research methods courses.

 

Broadly, Dr. Kelly’s research interests explore human memory and cognition. Dr. Kelly and collaborators across the Southeast have been exploring the development of metacognition in preschool children through the use of embodied cognition and cognitive offloading paradigms. He has also been exploring the factors that support and hinder prospective memory performance in children of this age.

 

Dr. Kelly is a longstanding member of the Psychonomic Society and the Southeastern Psychological Association, where he has previously served on the Executive Board.
