Dr. Sharon Beasley
Dr. Beasley serves as Assistant Dean for Accreditation and Assessment in the College of Health Professions. She received her PhD in Higher Education with a specialty in leadership from the University of South Carolina, MS in Nursing from Armstrong Atlantic State University (currently Georgia Southern University), and BS in Nursing from the University of South Carolina. She completed the Amy V. Cockcroft Leadership Fellowship in 2008.
Prior to Mercer, Dr. Beasley served as a Director with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) for seven years, where she was responsible for mentoring/assisting programs with programmatic accreditation. Her experience encompasses outcomes assessment and program evaluation for all undergraduate and graduate nursing program levels domestically and internationally. Dr. Beasley developed and revised accreditation policies based on the US Department of Education guidelines of recognized programmatic accreditors, co-chaired the ACEN 2023 Standards and Criteria Review, co-authored two US Department of Education Re-Recognition Reports, and co-authored two Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) Reports.
Dr. Beasley served on the Technical College of the Lowcountry institutional accreditation steering committee for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges reaffirmation process and the University of the District of Columbia’s steering committee for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education reaffirmation process.
Dr. Beasley’s scholarship focuses on accreditation, program development, leadership, outcomes assessment, and curriculum revision. In addition, she has presented nationally on the topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the context of nursing education accreditation and assessment.
