Dr. Niamh Tunney
Dr. Niamh Tunney is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy. She was awarded her MS by Georgia State University, her DPT degree by Massachusetts General Hospital, Institute for Health Professions and her Diploma in Physiotherapy by Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.
She practiced full time in neuro-rehabilitation for 17 years, and part time for 10 years while transitioning to full time academia.
Her current teaching responsibilities include neuroscience, management of patients/clients with neuromuscular conditions, and adult service-learning. She was awarded the Achievement in Education Award by the Physical therapy Association of Georgia in 2013. She is also very involved in the development and implementation of interprofessional learning experiences for students from all healthcare programs.
Her research activities are currently in the areas of the scholarship of teaching and learning and interprofessional education. She has published and presented regionally and nationally.
Dr. Tunney is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association. She serves as a mentor to newly graduated members of the neurologic special interest group of the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia.
