Dr. Kenneth Wessel
Dr. Kenneth Wessel is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Mercer University. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Mercer University and his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a Minor in Coaching from Winthrop University. Dr. Wessel completed Mercer’s Residency in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and Mercer’s Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy, which led to him becoming a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Dr. Wessel has practiced as a physical therapist for six years and currently works for Club Physical Therapy in Atlanta, Georgia, where he treats patients with orthopedic conditions with a focus on advanced manual therapy and clinical reasoning. He serves as a mentor in both Mercer’s Residency in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and the Fellowship in Manual Physical Therapy.
Dr. Wessel’s current teaching responsibilities include medical conditions, foundational physical therapy examination and intervention principles, and human movement. His research interests include pain science, clinician burnout, and higher education learning science. He has presented his work at regional and national conferences. Dr. Wessel is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), APTA Georgia, and the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy.
