Dr. Ellen Perlow

Dr. Ellen Perlow is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Mercer University. She received her BS in Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1980 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2012.

She has over 35 years of clinical experience as a physical therapist, working primarily in inpatient rehabilitation facilities treating individuals with neurological impairments. She has worked at three regional spinal cord injury centers in Chicago, Houston and Atlanta.

Dr. Perlow’s current teaching responsibility include pathophysiology, differential diagnosis, examination and interventions, management of patients with neurological conditions, and prosthetics and orthotics.

Her research has focused on areas to improve physical therapy student learning, prevention of patient and therapist injury with use of safe patient handling, and referred pain patterns. She has published and presented within the state and nationally.

Dr. Perlow is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), including the Academies of Neurology and Education, and the APTA Georgia. She is a delegate to the APTA House of Delegates.
