Dr. Brett Cross
Dr. Brett Cross is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise Science within the College of Health Professions. He received a PhD in Exercise Physiology from Florida State University, where he also served as both an instructor and teaching laboratory coordinator. Previously, he earned a Master of Science in Sports Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences from Georgia Southern University (Armstrong). Additionally, Dr. Cross is a certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Cross’s teaching experience includes applied exercise physiology, exercise testing and prescription, and nutrition. He has published multiple (12) research articles on topics investigating the effects of physical activity, sleep, and supplementation on measures of cardiovascular health, autonomic function, and human performance in both applied and clinical settings. His current research focus resides in elucidating the bi-directional role that lifestyle habits (i.e., physical activity, sleep, and nutrition) play in the areas of cardioautonomic health, cardiopulmonary and vascular adaptations to exercise, and performance optimization in healthy, clinical, and athletic populations.
