Emily Hartley Gabriel


Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Clinical Education

Dr. Emily Hartley Gabriel is Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Clinical Education of the Master of Athletic Training Program in the College of Health Professions on the Macon Campus. Dr. Gabriel joined the Mercer faculty in May 2018.

She earned a BS in Athletic Training from the University of North Florida, MS in Athletic Training from the University of Kentucky, and PhD in Health Services Research at Old Dominion University.

Dr. Gabriel’s primary teaching areas are in the assessment and rehabilitation of lower extremity injuries, research methods, and emergency management. Her primary research agenda has focused on assessing risk factors for lower extremity injuries and prevention strategies. She recently developed scales based on behavioral and social theories to assess attitudes towards injury prevention programs as well as developed implementation strategies to improve compliance of injury prevention programs.
